Meet Our Instructors
As a busy mum of three, exercise has always been my anchor — supporting both my physical and mental wellbeing.
My love for fitness began at a young age, and in 2015, I took a leap of faith, leaving my career in Business Management to follow my passion and become a fitness instructor.
Over the past decade, I’ve taught a wide range of classes — from Strength and HIIT to Stretch and Relax — while also expanding into holistic health. I trained as a Kinetic Chain Release Practitioner and continued to explore other complementary modalities, deepening my understanding of how movement and balance support overall wellbeing.
With a lifelong passion for alignment and balance, and a particular love of Pilates, it felt natural to add Pilates instruction to my skillset. After qualifying as a Pilates instructor in 2024, I was thrilled to join the Premier team, where I’m now furthering my expertise through Reformer teacher training.

I’ve had a passion for fitness from a young age, though my career initially led me in a different direction after leaving school. Everything changed when I became a mum to my son, Finn, who is now one year old.
I wanted a career that allowed me to combine my love of fitness with flexibility around family life. So, I built on my Level 2 Fitness qualification by pursuing a Level 3 Pilates certification.
In February 2025, I qualified as a Pilates instructor, and shortly after completing my exams, I was delighted to accept a position at Premier Pilates & Fitness in May. I currently teach Mat Pilates and Barre, and also cover fitness classes as required.
I’m really enjoying this new chapter in my career and look forward to continuing to develop my expertise in Pilates and fitness in the years ahead.
I have over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry. After a career change, I studied part-time for 2 years at college to become a fitness instructor. I then moved into a role as a Studio Coordinator and Fitness Manager.
Over the last 13 years at Premier Pilates, I have studied and participated in various courses and workshops. I now teach a variety of fitness classes: TRX, Kettlebells, Bodypump, Circuits, Power Hoop, and Strength Training.
Personal Training is my passion; I love helping my clients achieve incredible results, and seeing their progress is rewarding. We have added a small group Personal Training class, which has become extremely popular.
I also teach Mat and Barre Pilates, Mature Stretching classes, and PSM (Pilates Suspension Method), a new addition to the studio that I love.
Lastly, I run a slimming and wellness group where like-minded individuals meet weekly to motivate and help each other live a whole and productive life.

I discovered my passion for Pilates in my early 40s when I started attending mat Pilates classes. After just a few months, I was amazed by how my body felt stronger, more flexible, and more energized. This sparked a desire to dive deeper into the world of fitness and share its transformative benefits with others.
Over the next eight years, I dedicated myself to expanding my expertise. I earned qualifications in Mat Pilates, Exercise to Music, Exercise for older adults, and pre and post-natal exercise, and I completed Reformer Pilates training.
After many years in the hospitality industry, this was a rewarding midlife career change for me. Today, I am passionate about helping individuals of all ages and fitness levels discover the joy of movement, build strength, and enhance their overall well-being.

Janice Paterson
I have been managing Premier Pilates & Fitness since its creation, guiding its growth as it has evolved into the thriving studio it is today. Over the past 13 years, we've expanded our client base and relocated three times to accommodate our growing community.
My journey with Pilates began 14 years ago, during my own experience with menopause. I discovered how transformative Pilates could be for physical well-being, mental clarity, and confidence.
Inspired by the benefits that I felt, I realised that Midlothian needed a dedicated Pilates studio. After thorough research and planning, Premier Pilates & Fitness was born, and we haven't looked back since.
Our studio is a small boutique space that offers personalised attention in friendly, small-group classes led by highly qualified instructors. We're proud to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to reach their fitness goals.
We continually invest in innovative equipment to ensure our clients access the best resources. For instance, we introduced StretchFit, the first purpose-built stretching equipment in the UK. Most recently, we've added the Balance Body Allegro Pilates Reformer to our equipment portfolio, enabling us to offer private one-to-one sessions for tailored support.
I teach Pilates at all levels, including Reformer Pilates (one-to-one sessions) and Stretch Fit. This studio is more than a business to me—it's a passion and a commitment to keeping our local community fit, active, and vibrant.
Sarah Gellatly
With a rich background as a professional dancer and qualifications as a Level 3 Personal Trainer and Level 2 Class Instructor, I bring a passion for helping people unlock their full potential. My goal is to make fitness effective but also enjoyable and fun.
After eight years of travelling the world as a professional dancer, I channelled my energy into another passion—helping others on their fitness journeys. At Premier, I teach various classes, including Mat Stretching, Step, Kettlersize, Body Pump, TRX, Strength, and Never Too Old to Lift.
Every class is designed to be inclusive, ensuring there's space for everyone, regardless of experience or fitness level.
